Outreach Manager and Literacy Specialist
Colleen Segriff strongly believes early oral language development contributes to a child's future learning success. Trained in multi-sensory, explicit methods of teaching reading, she also holds degrees in Indigenous Studies and Anthropology, as well as a Bachelor of Education in Outdoor and Experiential Education. Colleen has worked as a special education teacher, classroom teacher and teacher librarian in Ontario and the Yukon. After learning that her daughter was dyslexic, Colleen's passion became teaching and advocating for adults and children with learning disabilities. Colleen has been the Outreach Manager at the Yukon Family Literacy Centre for four years and is a familiar face in many Yukon communities.
Lusia Stetkiewicz is a born and raised Yukoner. She received her Bachelors of Fine Art from the Alberta College of Art + Design with a specialization in glass. Literacy and Outreach Coordinator
Jessica grew up with a mom who read to her every day. Now, as an adult, it's safe to say her mother's passion for reading and literacy has been securely passed on to her daughter. Jessica is an avid reader, devouring a new book roughly once a week. With a Masters Degree and a background in social work and teaching, she's a valued team member at the Yukon Literacy Coalition. Jessica's personal philosophy is to help foster everyone to become life-long learners.
Former Family Literacy Coordinator
Katy Mead has recently moved on to new challenges and full time caring for her family! She will miss the energy and growth of the Family Literacy Centre and hopes to drop in often as a visitor!!
